Participants bring their own equipment, ensuring a personalized experience tailored to their preferences. You can try your hand at catching emblematic species such as Tarpon, Cuberra snapper and Threadfin while enjoying the exceptional beauty of the surrounding landscape. Whether in the morning or afternoon, this activity is the perfect complement to a day of exploration in the region.
Frequently Asked Questions
Due to visa requirements, a minimum of 10 days is required prior to making a reservation. However, we cannot guarantee the availibility of habituated gorilla trekking with short notice periods.
Fishing is great all year round, but each season brings different conditions:
Dec–Jan (Short dry season): Clear skies, great for boating and coastal fishing.
Feb–Apr (Long wet season): Heavy rains, high fish activity.
May–Sept (Long dry season): Overcast skies, calm waters — great for boat fishing.
Oct–Nov (Short wet season): Mix of rain and sunshine, dynamic fishing conditions.
Beach rod: 60/60 lbs (2.45–2.90 m)
Boat rod: ~2.10 m, rig 30 lbs
For tarpons (>200 lbs): 80 lbs rod
Lures: popper 14–16 cm / 80 g, heavy sinking stick bait (Orion), jerkbait, Halco Max 130, bucktail jigs (50–80 g), paddle tails, slow jigs <65 g, madai jigs, Squitrex
Leader: 60–150 lbs
Accessories: split ring pliers, 2 headlamps with red light mode, waterproof jacket
❗️ Replace original hooks with stronger ones. Treble and double hooks are prohibited. All barbs must be crushed.
Neutral-colored shirts (long & short sleeve) and long pants, shorts, swimwear, underwear, waterproof jacket, light jumper
Backpack, waterproof bags/ziplocks, quick-dry walking shoes + flip-flops, hat, sunglasses, Binoculars, headlamp, EU plug adaptors
Sunscreen, insect repellent, wet wipes, masks (if visiting the gorillas)
Cash in FCFA or euros (cards not always reliable)
Yellow Fever vaccine: required
Antimalarials: recommended (consult your doctor)
Doxycycline: causes sun sensitivity
Tsetse flies: not a major issue, avoid dark clothes (especially navy & black)
